Through 1,830 surveysadministered to donors and fundraising team membersat three United States nonprofit hospitals, thisstudy breaks new ground in public relationsscholarship by refining previous relationshipdimensions, adding new cultivation strategies,measuring both sides of the organization-publicrelationship using coorientation methodology, andmeasuring the organization-public relationshipacross multiple organizations. The results indicatethat the nonprofit-donor relationship is healthy interms of the relationship evaluation; however, theimpact of cultivation strategies suggested by publicrelations literature varies significantly.
