Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This volume contains selected contributions to a workshop on 'Numerical Methods for the Navier-Stokes Equations' held at the IBM Scientific Center Heidelberg during Oct.25-28, 1993, in collaboration with the SFB 'Reactice Flow, Diffusion and Transpor…t' of the Heidelberg University.The Topics treated are advanced computational methods for the compressible and incompressible Navier-Stokes equations in fluid mechanics. This includes non-standard variational formulations, higher order discretization schemes, efficient solution procedures, and particularly the most acute problems of robustness, adaptivity and parallelization. The main emphasis is put on the conceptional background and the mathematical theory of the various numerical approaches, but some implentation issues are considered as well.
