A descriptive cross-sectional research design was used. The respondents were 32 nursing students who had been exposed to the clinical setting, and 28 staff nurses from the delivery room and medical ward. The main instrument used was the survey questionnaire adopting the components of the Professional Regulation Commission - Board of Nursing (PRC-BON) National Nursing Core Competency Standards to assess the nursing students¿ competencies. In order to ensure the validity and accuracy of the result, a simple percentage was used to determine the profile of the respondents; weighted mean and t-test were used in order to assess the level of nursing students' competencies. The majority of the respondents were in the age bracket of 20-25 years old, mostly females, and mostly assigned to the delivery room.…
