From a website: David R. Belz, a member of the writing faculty at Loyola since 2002, has been teaching writing and communication for more than 30 years. In addition to serving as the internship coordinator for Loyola's writing department, he teaches such courses as Effective Writing, History of the Essay, Contemporary Essay, and Speech Writing and Delivery. He graduated from Loyola College with a B.A. degree in English and Creative Writing in 1978 and earned his M.A. from St. John's College in Annapolis. An Addy award-winning writer, he has worked in publishing and business communication since 1985 and has served as a corporate communications writer and consultant for such organizations as Constellation Energy Group, Baltimore Gas & Electric Company, The Baltimore Sun Company, The National Aquarium in Baltimore, Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown, and Becton Dickinson Diagnostics. In 1973, as a Maryland State Arts Council literary competition finalist, he studied fiction writing with novelists James M. Cain and J.R. Salamanca at the University of Maryland in College Park.
