About the book >.>.> Baselitz by Norman Rosenthal and Carla Schulz Hoffmann offers an in-depth exploration of the life and work of Georg Baselitz, one of Germany's most prominent contemporary artists. The book presents a comprehensive collection of Baselitz's key works, highlighting his unique style, which often incorporates violent and distinctive elements. Over his extensive career, Baselitz has drawn inspiration from a diverse array of sources, including traditional African art, European mannerism, and influential figures such as Kandinsky and Nietzsche. His work fuses elements of German Expressionism and Abstract Expressionism, marked by vibrant colours and liberated brushwork. The text delves into Baselitz?s artistic evolution and the profound impact of his experiences in postwar German society on his creative output. The book includes contributions from leading authorities who discuss the philosophical concerns that underpin Baselitz's art, situating him within the framework of late twentieth-century artistic movements. A significant focus is given to his distinctive choice of inverting motifs, elaborating on how this technique enriches the understanding of his work and the themes of hostility and isolation expressed within it.Additionally, the book features a rare statement from Baselitz himself, offering insights into his artistic process and the contextual factors influencing his work. This statement is published for the first time, enhancing the reader's comprehension of Baselitz's vision and artistic intentions. Baselitz serves as both a visual feast and an intellectual resource, enriching the discourse surrounding one of the most engaging figures in contemporary art. (MP).…
