Broschiert. Zustand: Sehr gut. 64 S. Gebraucht, aber gut erhalten. Einband am Rücken etwas nachgedunkelt. - Antoine Predock, educated at the University of New Mexiko, Albuquerque, and Columbia University, opened his office in 1967. He became known immediately for his regionally distinctive work. Predock's architecture has a strong connection to place and is often realized with bold, almost primal, forms. His recently completed works include the Arizona Science Center, the Tampa Museum of Science and Industry, and the Stanford University Center for Integrated Systems. The Turtle Creek House, winner of numerous awards and recognized by the American Institute of Architects and Architectural Record, was completed in 1993. Situated outside Dallas, near the Turtle Creek watershed, the house appears as if it has emerged out of the earth. Predock's instinct was to "contain the site and not let that sense of magic and power be released." Composed of limestone, concrete, glass, and stainless steel, the house establishes a connection between earth, through the heavy limestone ledges, and sky, through a steel skyramp extending over the treetops toward the creek. The house is divided into a north zone and a south zone and offers many paths, or journeys, by which one can navigate the spaces. Strongly connected to the natural realm by the many views offered and materials used, the Turtle Creek House is topped by : habitable roof terraces.
