About the book >.>.> A Persian Requiem, first published in Iran in 1969 under the title Savushun, was the first novel written by an Iranian woman. The source describes it as the most widely read Persian novel, noting that it had been reprinted sixteen times and sold half a million copies. In Iran, the book helped shape a generation?s ideas and attitudes by revealing factors that contributed to the Islamic Revolution of 1979.The novel is by Simin Daneshvar, who was born in Shiraz in 1921 and studied at Tehran University, later earning her doctorate there. She began writing fiction while working in journalism and went on to become an associate professor of art history at the university. After her husband, writer Jalal Al-e Ahmad, died in 1969, Daneshvar took a leading role in the Writers? Association and supported intellectuals opposing the Shah?s regime.
