No overall author or editor is given though the first edition, 1981, was edited by Pat Rowlinson with the text being written by David Rowlands. This is a re-working of the AA Guide to Angling in Great Britain, published in 1977 in association with Octopus Books, edited by Colin Graham. It is in a larger format with all the photographs in colour. The essay material has been re-used and the comments on individual venues has been dropped. The original road atlas section has been dropped in favour of colour road maps showing only the general area dealt with in each chapter. The very good section on Northern Ireland has been omitted, as have the original location maps showing individual, localised groups of rivers and sections of coastline. Attractive with interesting reading matter, but lacking the 4,000 rivers, lakes and marks of this book's first incarnation, space is also given to listings of golf clubs and sailing clubs. More like a fishing annual aimed at teenagers than the original, far weightier, glove-compartment sized gazeteer aimed at the car-owning angler. .…
