"Our purpose in writing this book is to codify the mitzvot of Scripture without the classical Jewish presumption and constraint that they must total six hundred thirteen, and to discuss their meaning and application from a New Covenant perspective. In modern times until recently, the New Covenant and the Kit'vei B'rit Chadashah (New Testament) were considered solely Christian and, since the First Century, God's Law as an approach to biblical living has been considered exclusively Jewish and limited to the commandments given through Moses. In addition to mainstream Judaism's having rejected Yeshua as Messiah, a chasm of interpretation and application of Scripture developed between Judaism and Christianity such that Judaism's approach to holiness has come to be through obedience to law, while Christianity's approach has been through faith with the assumption of God's grace apart from law. The resurgence of Jewish belief in Messiah Yeshua in the Twentieth Century has created the need for a fresh look at God's law applied with New Covenant principles and the Holy Spirit's interpretation, taking into account historic Rabbinic interpretations as well. This book seeks to fulfill that need by codifying and commenting on God's mitzvot wherever they may be found in Scripture-in the Torah, the Nev'im, the Ketuvim, the Besorah (Gospels) or the Apostolic Writings." God willing, there will eventually be a Volume 4 and 5, but I decided to publish this volume now to help counteract the prevalent (but mistaken) belief that law was God's Old Covenant way, and that the New Covenant is devoid of law and is entirely of grace. To show how God's law is still very much operative, I searched through the New Testament noting the words of Yeshua and his Shl'chim that that revealed God's law (i.e. God's will) and, that centuries later, reveals it to us, albeit today's very different world. I quoted their words as they are translated into English in the "Complete Jewish Bible," expressed them in the imperative as Mitzvot, and numbered them "AA1, AA2, AA3.", "BA1, BA2, BA3.", etc. When I completed "DA68" (204 Mitzvot), I realized that those I had already identified and commented upon are of considerable value in both teaching and self-study. Hence this Volume 3 is offered in advance of Volume 4 (and possibly a Volume 5) in the hope that it will be a helpful addition to contemporary devotional life and biblical scholarship.
