Most of these businesses were in partnership with either his brother Charles Quick, or Charles Quick and A. B. C. Comstock. They included a livery stab…le, general stores, Otsego County Bank, Delmont Hotel, and a carriage store. He was truly one of the famous early Gaylord pioneers. Besides his business interests, James Quick was a two-term Village Trustee. His poor health resulted in his early death at the age of fifty-two. He built his house at 120 North Center Street in Gaylord, Michigan in 1900. After his death, the house was the home to a number of doctors. The house is one of the best examples of the Queen Anne style to exist in Gaylord. James A.
