Hardback. Zustand: Good. Tom MacInnes is considered by many as one of the most original Canadian writers of all time. Raised in the Canadian Wild West in the latter half of the 19th century, he witnessed the Gold Rush, which became the subject of his first published work, A Romance of the Lost (1908). While Canada was encouraging immigrant Chinese coolies for the construction of the Canadian railways, MacInnes himself traveled to China to work in the development of the public transport system. After some years, this liberal mind became an ardent nativist, opposing the Yellow Peril then threatening the British fabric of Canada and founding the Canadian Nationalist League.A soul of fire in a land of ice, MacInnes embraced poetry in his middle years, developing a unique style with unfamiliar and idiosyncratic forms, inspired by medieval France. Still he was regarded as futurist by his contemporaries, and he sometimes claimed that he was writing for a public yet to be. Unfortunately for posterity, he has been forgotten. but hopefully, no longer.…

The slipcase, which has wear, tears, and soiling, is about a quarter of an inch bigger in each dimension. The five CDs are inside the front cover. Illustrated endpapers. Illustrations (many in color). This covers. he period 1989 through 1993 and includes stories from Music Row. Troyal Garth Brooks (born February 7, 1962) is an American country singer and songwriter. His integration of pop and rock elements into the country genre has earned him his immense popularity, particularly in the United States with success on the country music single and album charts, multi-platinum recordings and record-breaking live performances, while also crossing over into the mainstream pop arena. Brooks is the only artist in music history to have released nine albums that were certified Diamond by the Recording Industry Association of America (surpassing The Beatles' former record of six); those albums are Garth Brooks (diamond), No Fences (17× platinum), Ropin' the Wind (14× platinum), The Chase (diamond), In Pieces (diamond), The Hits (diamond), Sevens (diamond), Double Live (21× platinum), and The Ultimate Hits (diamond). Since 1989, Brooks has released 23 records in all, which include 13 studio albums, two live albums, three compilation albums, three Christmas albums, and four box sets, along with 77 singles. He has won several awards in his career, including two Grammy Awards, 17 American Music Awards (including "Artist of the '90s") and the RIAA Award for best-selling solo albums artist of the century in the U.S. Brooks is one of the world's best-selling music artists, having sold more than 170 million records.[9] Billboard ranked Brooks as the greatest male solo artist on the Billboard 200 chart of all time. As of 2020, according to the RIAA, he is the best-selling solo albums artist in the United States with 156 million domestic units sold, ahead of Elvis Presley, and is second only to the Beatles in total album sales overall. Brooks was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on October 21, 2012, having been inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame the year before. He was also inducted into the Musicians Hall of Fame and Museum in 2016 with his studio musicians, The G-Men. In 2020, Brooks became the youngest recipient of the Library of Congress Gershwin Prize for Popular Song. In 2021, Brooks was named a recipient for the 43rd Annual Kennedy Center Honors. The first installment of a planned five-part multimedia memoir, Anthology, Pt. 1: The First Five Years pairs a 240-page book with five CDs, all covering the years between 1989 and 1993. Brooks has never told this story in print, so the combination of oral history and memorabilia clearinghouse may be the main attraction for fans, who have had the opportunity to purchase various reissues of Garth Brooks, No Fences, Ropin' the Wind, The Chase, and In Pieces over the years. Those are the albums that form the basis of the five discs here -- each of the CDs mirrors its original album -- and if these 52 songs are heavy on well-known masters, there are previously unreleased alternate cuts here as well. All of these are alternate takes, demos, and "day-writes" (aka, quick demos recorded the day the song was composed), so the songs aren't new, but hearing these versions adds a bit of freshness. Zustand: Very good. Format for the book is approximately 8.5 inches by 11 inches. Slip case is approximately 8.75 inches by 11.25 inches. Minor wear to slip case. Book has a decorative cover. 240 pages. Illustrated end pages. Five compact disc inside the front cover, annual compilations for 1989 through 1993. Profusely illustrated (many in color). Includes some text by some of the writers for the songs recorded during these years. Garth wrote that the first five years were filled with high adventure, with dreams coming true, with new friendships beginning and old friendships growing. Most of all, though, the years were filled with music being made. We thought about songs night and day, chased the things. I was surrounded by songwriters, musicians, producers, engineers, managers, by people who lived to make music, and we got to see the world through songs. There were a lot of firsts, one after another: First time hearing one of our songs on the radio, first time hitting number one. This book is my chance to get together with the people who shared the experiences and together remember how it all went down. This book gathers what comes to our minds when we think of the first five years and the songs that came to life during that time. Inside these pages you'll find the music that got released in those first five years, five CDs of it. But you'll also find a few recordings that we've never shared, some of my favorites. You'll find photographs that have never been made public, behind-the-scenes images from before the first record and others from during the journey. There are bits and pieces of this history that mean a lot to me. As of February 2022 no Anthology Part Two has been released. During this time, he sold millions of albums through an exclusive distribution deal with Walmart and sporadically released new singles.[ In 2005, Brooks started a partial comeback, giving select performances and releasing two compilation albums. In 2009, he began Garth at Wynn, a periodic weekend concert residency at Las Vegas' Encore Theatre from December 2009 to January 2014. Following the conclusion of the residency, Brooks announced his signing with Sony Music Nashville in July 2014. In September 2014, he began his comeback world tour, with wife and musician Trisha Yearwood, which culminated in 2017. This was followed by his Stadium Tour, which began in 2019. His most recent album, Fun, was released in November 2020. Brooks is one of the world's best-selling music artists, having sold more than 170 million records.
