The overall theme of Periwinkle is love, laughter, and living. It can be read all at once or over a period of time. Each poem is a stand-alone poem and can be enjoyed as such. There are a few proses thrown in for good measure to explain the writings and to give insight to the reader as to the life and interest of the author who is a native Oklahoman, educator, mother, and writer. Jude Stringfellow has continued to write both for a living and for pleasure. She has written more than a dozen books and has published a few in different genres. Periwinkle was created as a pet project of the author to share with her family as a means to remember her after she has passed from this world to the next. Poetry lives within us all, and for some, it is a way of expressing of their love language.
