Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - 'Projective Geometry' provides a comprehensive and clear introduction to the fundamental principles of geometry from a projective standpoint. Written by John Wesley Young, this work explores the properties of figures that remain unchanged under projection and section, moving beyond the traditional constraints of Euclidean distance and angle measurement. The text systematically develops the logical foundations of the subject, introducing readers to essential concepts such as the principle of duality, perspectivity, and projectivity. The book is structured to lead the reader through the axiomatic basis of projective geometry, emphasizing the consistency and elegance of mathematical systems. It covers significant topics including point-rows, pencils of lines, and the geometric construction of conics. Young's approach is characterized by its pedagogical clarity, making complex abstract concepts accessible to students and mathematicians alike. By focusing on the intrinsic relationships between geometric elements, this work serves as a vital bridge between classical synthetic geometry and more modern algebraic interpretations. 'Projective Geometry' remains an enduring resource for those seeking to understand the underlying structure of geometric space and the evolution of mathematical thought in the early twentieth century. This work has been selected by scholars as being culturally important, and is part of the knowledge base of civilization as we know it.
