His 2008 film, Fuel won numerous awards including the Sundance Film Festival's Best Documentary Award, as did his 2012 film, The Big Fix.Tickell returned to the USA, bought an old diesel-powered Winnebago van that he painted with sunflowers and called the Veggie Van".
