These books are used for self-training and as textbooks in conflict resolution programs, colleges, universities, and law schools. He is currently writing another book on mediation - Beyond Basic Skills for the New Mediator.Goodman was an attorney in private practice for seventeen years, and served as a private mediator and arbitrator. In 1993 he left the practice of law when he was appointed a federal administrative judge on the United States General Services Administrative Board of Contract Appeals, where he served as a trial judge and an alternative dispute resolution (ADR) neutral in disputes between contractors and the federal government. In 2007 he was appointed as a judge on the United States Civilian Board of Contract Appeals where he continues to serve as a trial judge and ADR neutral.From 1982 to 1986 Goodman was a lecturer in Government Contracts Law at the TC Williams School of Law in Richmond, Virginia. From 1982 through 1986 he was an Adjunct Professor of Government Contract Law at the University of Virginia (Northern Virginia Extension.
