Between 1906 and 1940 Eric Gill employed perhaps 24 assistants, apprentices and pupils in his sculpture workshops. This memoir is written by the sculptor who had one of the longest working associations with Gill. Between 1931 and 1940, from tiny sketches, Donald Potter (1902-2004) made all Eric Gill's sculpture in wood and collaborated with much of his work in stone. Potter later became a part-time teacher of sculpture and pottery at Bryanston school in Dorset.
