William… Charles "Jack" Davis is one of the most prolific and recognized historians of the American Civil War. He has written or edited more than 40 books specializing in the American Civil War and early Southern U.S. history. Davis served as the on-camera senior consultant and commentator for 52 episodes of the A&E/History Channel series Civil War Journal. He has been a historical consultant for major film and television productions. He spent 20 years in editorial management within the magazine and book publishing industry. He was the longtime editor and publisher of the acclaimed magazine Civil War Times Illustrated. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from Sonoma State University. He retired as a Professor of History and the Executive Director of the Virginia Center for Civil War Studies at Virginia Tech. He is the only three-time winner of the Jefferson Davis Prize for Confederate history. Julie Hoffman served as an editor and production coordinator for the National Historical Society during the late 1980s and 1990s. Hoffman managed the massive logistical, editorial, and organizational tasks required to compile a multi-volume biographical dictionary. She was part of the editorial staff at Historical Times, Inc. and Cowles Magazines, which frequently partnered with prominent historians to publish high-volume reference sets, anthologies, and photographic histories of the Civil War.
