The voyage was difficult and often dangerous, and on the over-crowded vessel one Pilgrim died, several came close to death, and a single child was born. On November 11th, the ship dropped anchor in Province-town Harbour, Cape Cod. The Pilgrim Fathers' troubles did not end there. The land was hostile and winter was fast approaching. They found amore fabourable site for settlement at Plymouth, but still had to contend with severe shortages (many were to perish during that first winter), tense relations with the local Indians, and difficulties with other colonies. However, with remarkable fortitude they survived these adversities and eventually succeeded in establishing a stable colony. Their story is truly an epic one.
