Reprint with a new foreword by the author. viii, 335pp. Fionn MacColla (1906-1975) was a Scottish novelist and a founding member of the National Party of Scotland. The Albannach was his first novel, originally published in 1932, and is noted for its wry comments on contemporary Gaelic, and general Scottish attitudes. The book is bound in the original red-brown cloth covered boards with gold titling on the spine. The case of the book is in very good condition with bumping and wear to the cloth at the spine ends. The contents are tight and clean with no inscription. The clipped dustwrapper has shelf wear with some light soiling and slight fading to the spine. Small pieces are missing from the corner tips, top of the spine and the bottom front spine corner. There are a few small tears on the edges and some tears of about 1/2" around the top of the spine that have some surrounding creases, and these tears have old and newer tape repairs on the reverse of the wrapper.
