Aron focuses on defending "liberal" rather than "decadent" Europe as the title suggests. He criticizes the economic and ideological faults of socialism, discusses the moral guilt instilled by Marxist-Leninists, and explains why the communist / socialist ideals may sound appealing but would not be advantageous to the people of France or Europe. He also explores critical late-1970s issues which persist today such as energy problems, inflation, and needs for social reform. Includes tables comparing wages, growth rate, living standards, shares of world trade, etc. for various European countries, the USA, and Soviet Union. Red paper covered boards over red cloth spine titled in metallic red to spine. Bump to edge of front board and slight discoloration to spine. Clean, bright interior.
