A hugely important book for the environmental movement in the late 80's and early 90's, a collaboration between David Kelly and Gary Braash--Kelly a Portland writer working as managing editor of Oregon Magazine and a staff writer for Williamette Week; Braasch, a residednt of Nehalem, Oregon and a noted nature phographer whose work appeared regularly in Life, Audubon, Time, and Smithsonian. Detailing 'the beauty and grandeur of the last great forest in North America,' rets of the Old Growth Forest was an important testimonial to what was at stake in the great 'Timber Wars' over the dwindling old growth ecosystem of the Pacific Northwest. Much of those battles were executed in courts, and Larry Sokol was an important litigator for many environmental cases early in the movement, most notably a case which sparked a nationwide injunction against arial spraying of pesticides and herbicides on federal timber land. Signed.
