"Game and the Gunner is neither a personal memoir, a how-to treatise or a layman's textbook, though it contains elements of all three. Rather, it is the considered opinion of a broadly experienced and highly knowledgeable man about everything that has a bearing on game harvest and management. The book is in two parts, the harvest or hunting section leading off. Beginning with a discussion of hunting arms and the general principles of hunting, Pulling proceeds to describe the most appropriate tools, techniques and tactics for bagging every important species of American game bird and big or small game animal. The second section concerns the goals, practice and problems involved in the management of these same species and the basic ecological considerations that are involved. Board in scope, provocative in content and eminently readable, Game and the Gunner is a book all responsible sportsmen will want to read and reread."
