Bongard (1924-1971) "cuts across many diverse approaches to pattern recognition; it is the first unified basic treatment of the subject by a single author." --from the dust jacket. The appendices consist of 100 Bongard problems, puzzles that present two sets of diagrams -- solving the problems involves specifying the common factor in the first set.
