The translator, Cheron, was with the Aeronutronic Division, Philco-Ford Corp. Bongard writes in the preface that the book was the result of ideas originated jointly by M.N. Vaintsvaig, V. V. Maksimov, and M.S. Smirnov and himself. In this book Mikhail M. Bongard (1924-1971) "cuts across many diverse approaches to pattern recognition; it is the first unified basic treatment of the subject by a single author." --from the dust jacket.
