Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near Fine. 1st Edition. 8vo., 269pp. Beautiful First Edition. Though not stated "First Edition" as presumably called for with this publisher, it is unlikely it went into multiple printings and it went to paperback within a year of publication by Ballantine. This is almost certainly a First. Square, tight and clean throughout with little or no wear. Very attractive unclipped dust-jacket, ($10.95), has a short closed tear and trivial edge-wear. Fresh and bright with no creases or chipping. Inscribed and signed by the author on the half-title page to author, journalist and presidential speechwriter William Safire, "To Bill Safire - Now here's a subject on which we can agree-- Frank Mankiewicz". A very pretty collectable copy and a quite scarce association. Signed by Author(s).
