The selections run the gamut from familiar writers, such as Irwin Shaw and F. Scott Fitgerald, to more obscure authors, such as Barry Targan, whose hilariously triumphant fable, "Harry Belten and the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto," is reprinted here. Other highlights include Leslie A.
