In addition there is a selection of imperial wares and pieces made for the Chinese market which includes rare and unusual pieces. The importance of the book lies in the quality of the collection and the scholarly commentaries to the pieces which include the most up-to-date research. Extensive introductory sections provide background information to the wares described and illustrated and place the objects in historical context.
