Hardbound. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fine. First Edition. American journalist Ranya Pruhme and her husband edited an English language newspaper, People's Tribune, in Hankuo (Wuhan) in the years 1926-27. This period coincided with the assumption of power by the Kuomintang party in Nanjing and the rise of Chiang Kai-shek as the party leader; pivotal events in the development of the Chinese revolution. Prohme was closely acquainted with many key figures during this tumultuous period, including Song Qingling, the widow of Sun Yat-sen. The personalities she encountered and events she witnessed are described with passion and wit in a series of Prohme's letters to her best friend and her husband, as published in this volume. Tragically, Prohme died of illness in Russia in late 1927 at the age of 33. Faint tape residue marks on FEPs, otherwise a pristine, unread copy. xiii, 196 pp., 8 b&w photos, index. Size: 22 x 14 cm.
