"This is a reissue of Harold Monro's Collected Poems as they were assembled in reverse chronological order by his widow and published by Cobden-Sanderson in 1933, the year after his death. The prefatory matter to that edition is, however, here replaced by a long new biographical and critical introduction by Ruth Tomalin?based on notes dictated to her by Mrs. Alida Monro during the last weeks of her life in 1969. Some knowledge of the darker circumstances of Monro's life is essential to a reassessment of his highly individual poetry, which, as T. S. Eliot wrote, "in the end will remain because, like every other good poet, he has not simply done something better than anyone else, but done something that no one else has done at all."" Some foxing to top and fore edges. Both book and unclipped dust jacket are otherwise in excellent condition. All contents are tight and clean. There are no inscriptions. The jacket is covered with removable clear plastic for protection.
