Elinore Denniston began her literary career in the early 1930s publishing classical whodunits under the name Dennis Allan. At the end of the Second World War she writes under the pen name: Rae Foley for the series featuring the detective Hiram Potter, an American version of Lord Peter Wimsey in Dorothy L. Sayers and Albert Campion in Margery Allingham's novels.
