An historical novel revolving around the life of Joseph Cinque, leader of the *Amistad* slave mutiny in 1839. Chase-Riboud filed suit claiming that the movie *Amistad* was in part plagiarized from her work in this novel, and eventually reached an undisclosed settlement with the film's producers.
