Second printing of the true first edition, published in 1969 - the same year as the first printing. ***Near fine in black cloth-covered boards, with gilt titles to the spine. The dustwrapper has very slight wear to the top of the spine and some very light marks to the cream areas. No fading to the red titles even on the spine, which is uncommon with this title. Flaps not creased. A lovely example. ***224mm x 142mm. 56 pages. ***'Seamus Heaney's "Death of a Naturalist" (1966) was perhaps the most successful first book of verse published in this country for several years. "Door Into the Dark", its successor, has been eagerly awaited; and it will, we are confident, confirm and enhance everything that was promised by its predecessor.' (Quote taken from the front flap of the dustwrapper). ***A second printing of Seamus Heaney's second poetry collection, in bright, fine condition. Of interest to collectors of Seamus Heaney's poetry. A nice collectable copy. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.
