Corvids range in size from bird, and in colour from black to examples of the most colourful of the world's birds. the lark-sized Hume's Ground Jay to the Raven, the largest passerine Derek Goodwin's object in this book is to record known facts about all living corvid species. A general account of the family, its adaptive radiation, coloration and behaviour precedes the descriptions of the birds. The general characteristics of ten groups are discussed and descriptions of the 116 species follow, with a synopsis of the behaviour and biology of each. Most of the illustrations are by Robert Gillmor, and are based on his or the author's original sketches. Nearly all the species descriptions are.
