Hardcover. Zustand: Fair. 1st Edition. Al Santoli, the genius and gentle leader of this project, fought the Vietnam War twice: once as an eighteen - year - old infantryman up against the Tet offensive of 1968; and then again, eleven years later, as a veteran with a tape recorder, when he journeyed across the physical and psychic American countryside, talking , laughing and crying with other veterans and their families. Everything We Had is both wars, and it creates through shared human pain and triumph a simple and undeniable authority. Condition: Intact covers and spine, all pages present and clean. Original dust jacket is present, but has small chips or tears at the edges or minor rubbing. Tight binding.

Zustand: very good, good. Fifth Printing. 265, glossary, biographies, DJ somewhat scuffed and some wear to edges. Albert "Al" Santoli is an American writer and founder of the Asia America Initiative. He served in combat as a rifleman for the 25th Infantry Division in Dau Tieng. He is currently an adjunct professor at the Institute of World Politics and teaches a course titled, "Counterterrorism through Cultural Engagement and Development." Santoli is an expert on national security, international relations, human rights, religious liberty, and refugee issues, especially regarding East, Central and Southeast Asia. He served as an adviser to key Members of the U.S. Congress, policymakers in Washington, D.C. and non-governmental organizations (NGO)s. In May 2014, Santoli was invited to provide keynote remarks at the Laos Memorial in Arlington National Cemetery to honor his fellow veterans of the Vietnam War as well as Lao and Hmong veterans of the "U.S. Secret Army" who defended the Royal Kingdom of Laos during the North Vietnamese invasion of Laos. Oral histories of 33 tours of duty in rough chronological order, from December 1962 to April 1975, when Saigon fell. Spontaneous firsthand interviews with combat veterans of Vietnam reveal the horror and poignancy of their war in Southeast Asia and bring home that war's violence, intimacy, and unresolved trauma.
