Their frequent separations stimulated their correspondence, and over 800 of Wells's letters survive, though he destroyed all but five of hers. Many years ago Rebecca West presented these letters to the Beinecke Library at Yale University, with the proviso that they should not be accessible till after her death. The publication of inadequate and incorrect accounts of this period in her life has led her to change her mind: and the letters have been made accessible to Dr. Gordon Ray. His record of those years makes a fascinating, stimulating and often profoundly moving tale. Illustrated. 215 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.).…
