After a time teaching physics, the late mountaineer, teacher, and photographer David Keith Jones went to Kenya in 1968. His interest in photography was ignited by the beauty of the country and he began publishing photographs and articles in 1969. Jones produced illustrations for dozens of books and magazines. He lectured on photography at the Nairobi University School of Journalism; was editor of several magazines, including the East African Wildlife Society's international magazine Swara; and published over half a million calendars using his own photographs.
