In November 5, 1972 two men, one carrying a gun, forced their way into the home of Bob and Muriel Patience at the Barn Restaurant in Braintree. Bob, his wife and daughter Beverley were shot and Muriel died later in hospital. Within days, the hunt for the murderer concentrated on one man - George Ince - who was identified by the surviving Patiences. He gave himself up, went through two murder trials, yet was finally acquitted. John Brook, a northener, was later convicted of the murder. Why was the wrong man charged?
