Hardcover. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Fine. 1st Edition. A like new hardback copy - just about, despite it being fifty five years old there are no discernible faults to the book or the unclipped dustjacket but I couldn't classify it as new. First edition. Published by the Oxford University Press 1971. Yellow cloth binding, gilt spine lettering. Large 8vo, xx, 396pp. + timeline, b/w plates and index. 9½" x 6¼" (1.4 kg). Top edge dyed brown. 1st edition, 1st printing. A scarce hardback first edition, in an unclipped jacket. This is rare because most copies went into the library system, and are usually found in a poor condition. The binding is firm, there are no marks or inscriptions, and the book is beautifully produced. In the Oxford English Memoirs & Travels series; Preface by Roger Fiske. An English language memoir like this is unique, and doubly valuable because it is so enjoyable.Fascinating work on the first British Tenor to be acclaimed abroad his memoirs were first published in the year in which he died, 1816. Full title:" Reminiscences of Michael Kelly of the King's Theatre and Theatre Royal Drury Lane, including a Period of Nearly Half a Century with Original Anecdotes of Many Distinguished Persons."
