Instead of a beach saturated with enemy fire, the scene was a dock in the port of Pusan in the far southeast corner of Korea. The landing force was the 1…st Provisional Marine Brigade; the situation it would soon face was one of desperate crisis. The men knew they were going into battle but knew nothing about the forthcoming enemy except that it was called the North Korean People's Army (NKPA). It would be a long war for the Marines in Korea, & there would be other much more famous battles to come, but the die was cast in those crucial first weeks of combat in Aug. & Sep. 1950. Very good.
