Nevertheless, it's an absorbing first-hand account of an era in which such legendary figures as Garbo, Sergei Eisenstein, Thomas Mann, Franz Werfel, Berthold Brecht, Arnold Schoenberg, Ernst Lubitsch, Irving Thalberg, S.N.
