Also included are more than seventy composite plate illustrations consisting of images cut and pasted from books and popular science journals, with elaborate captions, as well as Kiesler's own line drawings made specifically for this project. Z : 240 Seiten, zahlreiche farbige und s/w Abbildungen - Der austro-amerikanische Architekt, Designer, Bühnenbildner, Künstler und Theoretiker Friedrich Kiesler ist ein wahrer Visionär des 20. Jahrhunderts. In Berlin, Wien und Paris schuf er in den 1920er-Jahren elektromechanische Bühnenbilder, spiralförmige Raumbühnen, modulare Ausstellungssysteme und konzipierte eine frei in der Luft schwebende Raumstadt. 1926 ging er nach New York, revolutionierte die Schaufenstergestaltung, baute 1930 das erste 100%-Kino, schuf den Urahnen des Nierentisches und gründete ein Laboratory for Design Correlation. 1942 gestaltete Kiesler für Peggy Guggenheim die Galerie Art of This Century. Seine Grundidee des endlos fließenden Raumes kulminierte in den Endless House-Projekten der 1950er-Jahre. Mit dem 1965 eröffneten Shrine of the Book in Jerusalem verwirklichte er eines der bedeutendsten Museen seiner Zeit.
