I am prompted to offer this book titled simply: Moscow by Yury Balanenko & Alexander Berezin if only because the current tensions between Russia and the United States need some perspective. Looking through this book even with its slight propaganda tilt should remind us all that Russians are people too, not unlike ourselves. And seeing the many accomplishments evident in this large city should remind us not to underestimate them. This very large hard cover book (10 ¾ x 13 ¾ inches 208 pages) was published by Planeta Publishers of Moscow dated 1975. It is bound in ivory-colored cloth with bold gilt titles on cover and spine and protected by a high gloss pictorial dust jacket with double-folded edges. This book is all color photographs of Moscow and its people and places including a few fold-out panoramic views as well. The text, with the exception of a few small publisher s annotations, is all in English. Condition: This book is in very good condition. There is some darkening along the upper edge of the dust jacket which might be from the sun. Otherwise, the high gloss finish has a tiny bit of wear across the middle but is not affected by edge wear doubtless because it is double-folded. The hard covers too are a bit darkened along the edges top more than lower. Inside, a former owner has left his inked name on the front endpaper but that is the only mark I found in the book. The hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
