Tiny dealer plate to the base of the front pastedown. Quite a nice, bright copy. No dust wrapper. 'Exhumation of a Murder. The Life and Trial of Major Armstrong'. With research assistance by J. H. H. Gaute and H. B. Trumper, and a foreword by Edgar Lustgarten (1975). First edition. This copy signed by the author on the title page. 8vo. [x], 250pp. Green cloth lettered in gold at the spine. Illustrated with photographs and manuscript reproductions. Former owner details inked to the fore edge of the front pastedown (and thereby entirely obscured by the wrapper flap), and with the initials of the same owner inked to the head of the front free endpaper. A very good copy in fine non-price-clipped dust wrapper. A contemporary account together with the first in-depth account of the life, crimes and trial of Major Herbert Armstrong, who was arrested in 1921 for the attempted murder of a rival, and later additionally charged with the murder of his wife, the crime for which he was eventually executed after one of the most publicised murder trials in pre-WWII British history. Signed by Author(s).
