Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book mainly focuses on the adaptive analysis of damage and fracture in rock, taking into account multiphysical fields coupling (thermal, hydro, mechanical, and chemical fields). This type of coupling is a crucial aspect in practical engineering for e.g. coal mining, oil and gas exploration, and civil engineering. However, understanding the influencing mechanisms and preventing the disasters resulting from damage and fracture evolution in rocks require high-precision and reliable solutions. This book proposes adaptive numerical algorithms and simulation analysis methods that offer significant advantages in terms of accuracy and reliability. It helps readers understand these innovative methods quickly and easily. The content consists of: (1) a finite element algorithm for modeling the continuum damage evolution in rocks, (2) adaptive finite element analysis for continuum damage evolution and determining the wellbore stability of transversely isotropic rock, (3) an adaptivefinite element algorithm for damage detection in non-uniform Euler-Bernoulli beams with multiple cracks, using natural frequencies, (4) adaptive finite element-discrete element analysis for determining multistage hydrofracturing in naturally fractured reservoirs, (5) adaptive finite element-discrete element analysis for multistage supercritical CO2fracturing and microseismic modeling, and (6) an adaptive finite element-discrete element-finite volume algorithm for 3D multiscale propagation of hydraulic fracture networks, taking into account hydro-mechanical coupling. Given its scope, the book offers a valuable reference guide for researchers, postgraduates and undergraduates majoring in engineering mechanics, mining engineering, geotechnical engineering, and geological engineering.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book focuses on the challenges of stability analysis and control synthesis for nonlinear dynamical systems, including stochastic systems, multi-agent systems, and nonholonomic systmes. With the adaptive Nussbaum design, this book investigates the asymptotic stabilization problem for nonlinear systems, addressing practical constraints such as physical limitations on system states to ensure safety. Furthermore, this book develops fixed-time stable design to enhance the dynamic performance, with strategies compensating for modeling inaccuracies and external disturbances. In addition, the adaptive Nussbaum design is extended to distributed bipartite consensus design for multi-agent systems and resilient feedback design for nonholonomic systems subject to false data injection. Given the scope, the book offers an essential reference guide for researchers and engineers working on advanced nonlinear system control, as well as a valuable resource for upper-level undergraduate and graduate students.

Buch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This book presents frontier research in computational mechanics of mine rock mass and tackles the major engineering problems of unconventional oil and gas resources exploitation. The hydrofracturing, which forms a complex fracture network in deep reservoir rock, is a key technology for oil and gas flow and extraction. The propagation behaviors (such as deflection, penetration, and intersection) and fracture network morphology are crucial to the evaluation and control of oil and gas production. This book mainly introduces from the following three aspects, including deflection of fracturing fracture network disturbed by discontinuity in rock, deflection of fracturing fracture network disturbed by multiple fractures, propagation and deflection of fracturing fracture network in supercritical CO2 fracturing. The book focuses on the numerical research progresses of deflection of fracturing fracture network disturbed by discontinuity and multiple fractures in rock, which covers the following main contents: (1) dynamic intersection and deflection behaviors of hydraulic fractures meeting granules and natural fractures in tight reservoir rock based on statistical modelling and fractal characterization, (2) deflection behaviors and fractal morphology of hydraulic fractures meeting beddings and granules with variable geometrical configurations and geo-mechanical properties, (3) dynamic propagation of tensile and shear fractures induced by impact load in rock based on dual bilinear cohesive zone model, (4) center- and edge-type intersections of hydraulic fracture network under varying crossed natural fractures and fluid injection rate, (5) wells connection and long hydraulic fracture induced by multi-well hydrofracturing utilizing crossed perforation clusters, (6) deflection of fracture networks and gas production in multi-well hydrofracturing utilizing parallel and crossed perforation clusters, (7) supercritical CO2-driven intersections of multi-well fracturing fracture network and induced micro-seismic events in naturally fractured reservoir. Given its scope, the book offers a valuable reference guide for researchers, postgraduates and undergraduates majoring in engineering mechanics, mining engineering, petroleum engineering, geotechnical engineering, and geological engineering.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Neuware - The aim of this book is to present original data and comprehensive reviews of state-of-the-art work that advance our understanding of solution chemistry in diverse fields, authored by the diverse experts. The first two chapters address advances in solubility measurements. The first chapter provides the experimental data and thermodynamic modeling regarding solubilities of uraninite [UO2(cr)], pyrochlore [(NaCa)Nb2O6F(cr)] and microlite [(NaCa)Ta2O6F(cr)] in NaF solutions under the extreme conditions at 800oC and 2,0002,300 bars. The knowledge embodied in the first chapter is important for understanding the formation of rare metal deposits in the ultrahigh temperature hydrothermal systems. The second chapter presents an experimental study of brucite [Mg(OH)2(cr)] solubilities in NaCl solutions over a wide range of ionic strength from 0.01 molkg1 to 5.6 molkg1 at elevated temperatures up to 80oC. Such results are useful in many areas of study, including elucidation of the formation of recently discovered brucite-carbonate chimneys in hyperalkaline (pH 911), saline, hydrothermal fluids (40oC to 90oC) on ocean floors. Chapters 3 and 4 address advances in solution chemistry related to salt formations. In Chapter 3, the incoherent inelastic neutron scattering (INNS) technique was used to distinguish three water environments in bedded salts. These three environments include intergranular water molecules confined to grain boundaries, water in fluid inclusions, and structural water in hydrous minerals. Such knowledge is relevant to subsurface energy exploration and nuclear waste storage in salt formations. Chapter 4 provides the experimental evidence to demonstrate that mineral colloids derived from an engineered barrier of MgO, in high ionic strength brines associated with salt formations are nonexistent. This is attributed to the fact that the high ionic strength solutions associated with salt formations have high concentrations of both monovalent and divalent metal ions that are orders of magnitude higher than the critical coagulation concentrations for magnesium oxide derived colloids. The absence of magnesium oxide derived colloids in high ionic strength solutions implies that contributions from these colloids to the total mobile source term of radionuclides are minimal in a salt geological repository. Two chapters summarize advances related to organic materials. Chapter 5 provides an overview regarding the advances in new functionalized polysulfones. Recently developed polysulfonic films are expected to find biomedical applications. Chapter 6 includes a comprehansive review with regard to the analytical techniques for determination of trace elements in crude oils and fuel oils, and the original data generated in the laboratory. Based on these results, it seems that elements of high value could be co-extracted from crude oils in the future. The final two chapters address advances in speciation in understanding in aqueous systems. Chapter 7 presents an overview of the advances in speciation of vanadium using three techniques: Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR), Electron Paramagnetic Resonance (EPR), and UV-Vis spectroscopy. Chapter 8 centers on the speciation of Am(III) in hyperalkaline solutions. The equilibrium constant for Am(OH)4 is obtained by using the Pitzer model to evaluate Am(OH)3(s) solubility data in KOH solutions.
