Esta obra explora esta paradoja: a pesar de que percibimos la política como un área de conflicto permanente con intensidad variable, lo cierto es que nuestros representantes no solo entienden mayoritariamente que es una esfera de cooperación, sino que cuando están en sus respectivos parlamentos tienden a aprobar leyes de manera cooperativa (sin votos negativos) con más frecuencia que de manera conflictiva (con votos negativos). Esta paradoja se explora recurriendo al fenómeno de la ?teatralización?, la escenificación del conflicto en la política de maneras diversas. El repertorio agrupa las broncas, trifulcas y algaradas habituales que reflejan los medios sustentadas en insultos, acusaciones, gestos obscenos, insidias, exabruptos, aspavientos, ofensas, abucheos, zascas, gritos, desprecios, burlas, incluso amenazas o violencia simbólica. No son situaciones infrecuentes y se escenifica solo con los rivales, no con los correligionarios, y tienen efectos nefastos sobre la democracia.
