Original published in serial form, this edition brings together the complete work. viii, 502pp, with a tissue-guarded plate frontispiece and 642 further illustrations including eight colour plates and one photogravure plate. Red cloth-covered boards with pink lettering and portcullis on the upper panel, gilt lettering on the spine. Large and heavy 4to. Cloth is worn and rubbed, rounded on corners, with several short tears at head and heel of a sunned spine, a few minor marks. Endpapers toned and first signature almost completely loose, else internally neat. clean, bright and tight. A substantial work on the history of the home of the Westminster Parliament, co-authored by Arnold Wright and Philip Smith. A popular work at the time, it is still considered one of the more accurate, and entertaining, books on the history of the Palace of Westminster.
