Softcover. Zustand: Near Fine. Periodical. Complete in 13 issues. Quarto. Photographic illustrated wrappers. Overall very good or better with typical toning to the newsprint paper, a few spots of scattered edgewear and address labels remnant on issues; the rear cover of issue one has its subscription form neatly remove affect the bottom half of the page. Founded by *Rolling Stone* editor Baron Wolman and with Barbara Kruger as art director, *Rags* was a short-lived by hugely influential magazine of fashion and culture that looked not to established sources for its fashion but rather styles spouting up among young culture of the San Francisco. This organic form of attire now more commonly referred to as Street Style was a pioneering step in modern fashion highlighted by features showing photographs of everyday people talking about what they were wearing or their latest creation. The magazine also included new trends in art, photograph, and music with features on youth culture, gay styles, and tattooing and with interviews, articles and features on Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, Betsy Johnson, Ed Ruscha, Kurt Vonnegut and Robert Crumb. An important and innovative magazine of emerging trends in fashion, art, and culture that blossomed in the decade to come. Individual issues can be found but complete runs like this are rare.
