Hardcover. Zustand: fair. The Fifth Edition. Lg. octavo. 219,[6]pp. Bound in 19th century three-quarter calf over marbled boards. Modern endpapers. Title-page engraving. Decorative initial, head- and tailpieces. In 1722, William Wollaston (1659-1724) published "The Religion of Nature Delineated," which falls between Clarke's "Discourse of the Unchangeable Obligations of Natural Religion" and Joseph Butler's "Sermon." It was a work of constructive deism rather than critical deism. Wollaston starts with the assumption that religion and morality are identical, and labors to show that religion is "the pursuit of happiness by the practice of truth and reason." By 1746, the popular work was issued in a seventh edition. Heavy age wear and abrasions on binding. Front board almost detached. Part of backstrip missing. Title-page chipped around edges. Outer margins and bottom edge on verso of title-page and page 4 repaired with modern paper, water staining to front of same leaves. Page 5 expertly repaired at outer margin. Otherwise interior in good+ condition, binding fair.

Zustand: Good. Most items will be dispatched the same or the next working day. Ex library copy with the few markings, from the Theosophical Society Library, Liverpool Lodge. Does have a bookplate to the front pastedown stating 'Ernest H. Shackleton'. Shackleton was a member of societies such as the Freemasons, and also a very religious man so it is possible it was a copy of his given to the library, although there is no proof of this. Bound in brown leather, boards detached but included. Mild tan and foxing to page edges. Good reading copy or candidate for repair.

Erstausgabe
Brunet, 1799.

Dec. 22, 1828), was an English chemist and physicist who discovered the elements palladium and rhodium and first reported the dark lines in the spectrum of the Sun. His consideration of geometrical arrangements of atoms led him into crystallography and the invention of the reflecting goniometer to measure angles of crystal faces. He also proved the elementary nature of niobium and titanium, developed a method of making platinum malleable, proved the identity of voltaic and frictional electricity, and invented the camera lucida to aid microscopists. The mineral Wollastonite was named in his honor. (Adventures in Cybersound).Another paper attached: James Smithson, "A chemical Analysis of some Calamines". Pp. 12-28.
