Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Three items bound in private cloth, title label on spine in German. First item is the plate volume and text volume of the Werner Wolffheim collection. Second item is Catalog 218 from the firm of Leo Lippmannssohn, "Musikgeschichte," 98 pp. with 1848 items cataloged. Third item is the musical collection of Horace de Landau. The Wolffheim set consists of 48 plates and 287 pp. There were four parts altogether; two additional plate volumes issued in 1929 are not present. The Lippmannsohn catalog was printed on ordinary paper which has aged. The third item, the Landau collection, has 446 items cataloged and some internal illustrations. According to the catalog's title page a fully illustrated catalog with 23 plates was available for purchase. This, again, is not present. The Wolffheim auction has been called the most important music auction of the twentieth century. All items were bound without wrappers. A pencil notation on the front pastedown endpaper, "Swann # 1177 / 370" may indicate that this copy was obtained at that sale, which took place in 1980.
