Winters responds to a writer, who requests permission to send Winters his movie script ("with you in mind for one of the leading roles") to her for consider. Winter responds in hard-written script: "5/2/82. Dear Mr. Mitchell: Thank you for the letter, but I am commited (sic) to a film, writing a 2nd book & will be producing my own film this year." With closing & signature, Shelley Winters [1920-2006] received Academy Award nominations for Best Actress for A Place in the Sun (1951) and for Best Supporting Actress for A Patch of Blue (1965) and The Poseidon Adventure (1972). She won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for The Diary of Anne Frank (1959). Winters' other memorable films include Lolita (1962), Alfie (1966) and Next Stop, Greenwich Village (1976).
