In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Carte de visite photo album. 12mo. Contemporary dark blue embossed morocco with metal clasp, floral patterned endpapers, all edges gilt. Contains 17 albumen CDV prints and one tintype laid into double-sided cardboard sleeves with cut-out rectangular frames. Titled in pencil on verso of front free e…ndpaper: "Savannah, Georgia Views by J.N. Wilson". Most prints are captioned with names or places in pencil on the cardboard sleeves. Light wear at corner tips, both free endpapers are modestly foxed, two or three prints are lightly faded, a few scattered small stains, very good. An album from the family of Confederate Major Edward W. Drummond, containing many scarce early photographs from J.N. Wilson's studio in Savannah. Both Drummond and Wilson were "Confederate Yankees" who served in the Confederate Army during the Civil War. Drummond had moved from Maine to Savannah in the 1850s, and Wilson arrived in 1860 from New York. The album contains several images of Johnson Square (including Christ Church), and Forsyth Park (including the Sphinxes and Fountain). Also included is an image of alligators, the Pulaski House, and one print (presumably not taken by Wilson), of "Stonewall Jackson's grave site" (at Lexington, Virginia). Among the family photographs are the "Drummond House" (captioned with a question mark), a portrait of "Capt. White with daughter Madge, Savannah", and one tintype portrait inscribed on the original embossed paper frame to "George & Ina". A rare Savannah album with photographs most likely dating from soon after the Civil War in 1865. Reference: *A Confederate Yankee: The Journal of Edward William Drummond, a Confederate Soldier from Maine* (2004).

In den WarenkorbUnbound. Zustand: Very Good. Albumen carte-de-visite. Image measures approximately 2½" x 3¾" on slightly larger double-ruled card mount. Photographer's mark and address ("South East cor. Broughton & Whitaker Sts. Savannah, Ga.") printed on verso in purple and yellow. Subjects unidentified, but there are several words in faded pe…ncil on the verso that might be deciphered with some effort. Bottom right corner of mount a little rounded, very good or better. A striking image of a seemingly stoic middle-age female African-American domestic care-giver, seated full-length with a White baby in a long white baptismal(?) gown, perched on her lap. Nice, striking vintage tinting on the clothing of the caregiver: brown and white polka dotted dress, light blue apron, and bold red and yellow head scarf. The upper portion of the baby gown has been highlighted in pink. A distinctive and impressive image.
